Mission Uganda: St. James Sec. Sch.

St. James Secondary School is a four year school perched on a mesa in the remote village of Jjaga, Uganda. It is a Catholic School operating under the supervision of Makondo Parish, within the Masaka Diocese.

We (Kris and Dean) first got involved in helping St. James Secondary School during the Summer of 2010, during the early development of the school, when construction started on their second building -- a multipurpose building. The school was only in their second year functioning (with only S1 and S2 classes) and were struggling to survive financially. We fell in love with St. James and the Jjaga community and felt called to help. That same year, to assist the students (and the school with operating costs), Kris started a sponsor-a-student program and Dean began raising funds to help with building construction. Fundraising was exhausting with us both working full-time jobs; we needed a TEAM (Together Everyone Accomplishes More) -- So, to be more effective in helping the school and in raising funds, we approached and soon partnered, and began volunteering, with INTO YOUR HANDS-AFRICA who joined hands with us (effective December, 2012) in committing to assist St. James Secondary School in Jjaga, Uganda to continue to help grow programming efforts in the Makondo/Jjaga community.
